After several specialized websites wrote about Apple's alleged offer
to Samsung regarding patent licensing, everyone was waiting for an
official reaction from the Korean company. Well, today such a reaction
was made public, and it comes from Shin Jong-kyun, Samsung's head of
telecommunications.
During a senior member staff meeting, he clearly stated that no such compromise will be possible, and in no universe will Samsung pay Apple $5 to $15 per device.
Furthermore, just to show how committed Samsung
is to these patent wars, the company has increased the budget for these
litigations, from $200 million in 2011, to $260 million for 2012. As it
seems, the Koreans will spare no expenses to win, and a legendary peace
between the two giant manufacturers is far away. Just as in a tennis
match, all eyes are now turned towards Apple, as people expect a more
reasonable settlement, or perhaps the decision to fight to the end.
We'll see.
